1 Flash and Animation Presented by : Behzad Sajed Khosrowshahi

2 Agenda Introduction to Flash Flash Interface Animation in Flash Flash with Media Files Interactivity in Flash Flash Distributing Demonstration Conclusion References

3 Introduction to Flash Adobe Flash has been called Macromedia Flash HTML is enough for creating a static web page Text Images Why we need Flash? Text and images move around the screen HTML does not really support dynamic web pages How about animated GIF images or java applets?

4 Introduction to Flash Vectors vs. Bitmaps Bitmap: Bitmaps are created with lots of dots Bitmap image is displayed on monitor with pixels Its files are big Bitmap images can not be scaled because of losing their quality or clarity Vector: Vector graphics are defined with equations that specify lines, shapes, and locations Blank space does not have to be recorded File sizes are usually smaller than bitmap file sizes Vector graphics are scalable

5 Introduction to Flash Flash vs. Animated GIF Animated GIF: It is compromised of many images saved in a one GIF file Web pages take more time to be loaded There is not any interactivity for stopping or changing it The number of colors in animated GIF is limited to 256 Flash: Flash uses vector graphics So, the file size is smaller It can be scaled to any size without losing quality or clarity Controlling the animation Interact with animation Flash movie loads much faster Flash movie can use more than 256 colors

6 Flash Interface Interface Fundamental Tools panel Time Line Menu Bar More Panel Stage Property Inspector

7 Drawing in Flash Line tool Pen tool Text tool Oval tool Rectangle tool Pencil tool Brush tool Ink bottle tool Paint bucket tool Eyedropper tool Eraser tool

8 Flash Interface Symbols and the Library Reduce the file size A symbol is an element which we can add it one time and use it more than one time For accessing to symbol window Window  Library or CTRL + L Types of symbol: Movie Clip Button Graphic

9 Flash Interface Applying Color Selecting color from Color Mixer and using Alpha for brightness of the color Working with Text After adding a text, changing its property in Properties Inspector

10 Animation in Flash Phase 0: Establish guidelines for our animation Timeline animation: Frame by Frame animation Changing the individual contents of each frame manually Tweened animation Defining the start and end point of the animation It needs the duration Example: make a circle bigger in 20 seconds Timeline effects After Flash MX 2004 Automated animation and visual effects For all of these types we need to use the TimeLine section in Flash Interface

11 Animation in Flash Layers: For organizing the objects in our project For adding, click on INSERT LAYER Two types of Layer: Guide Layers: Motion Layers: controls the path of the motion for an object

12 Animation in Flash Character Fast and easy animation with Text The size of the file is small Doing an example in demonstration

13 Flash with Media Files One of the most important part of an animation is its sounds and video Adding sound in Flash is very simple Just importing it as an object and use it A sound file uses frame as its length Adding and displaying a video is the same as adding a sound file

14 Interactivity in Flash Flash uses ActionScript as a language for controlling the animation For adding an ActionScript function to a frame, by right click on the frame and click on Action The example of using the ActionScript is when we want user after clicking on START, the animation starts

15 Flash Distributing After finishing a project, for having the output we can do it very easy By clicking on Publish and selecting types of the output which we like For example, animated GIF, Flash File,…

16 Demonstaration Using motion layer for moving an object from one position to another position Creating an animation Text

17 Conclusion Flash is one of the best application for creating an animation project Flash supports vector graphics which are scalable, and its file is small Flash sees each element for creating the animation as an Object which we can use it later without needing to load it again With Flash we can create an interactive animation
