Announcements: - More announcements at the end of class - Next time Guest Lecture on Space Exploration - 10/02 Catch up (HOBO, Foam Core, and therapy) - Design Document Rev A (DD A) is now due 10-04-07 at 8:00 AM but start after you get proposal feedback - Other schedule changes - Hardware orders will still be on 10-11-07 - DD B is now due 10-16-07 - CDR is now 10-16-07

Today: - Guest Lecture - Systems Engineering - Lad Curtis MicroSat Systems, Inc

Colorado Space Grant Consortium Feedback ASEN / ASTR 2500 Class #9 Feedback ASEN / ASTR 2500 Class #9

- Most of you need to work on functional diagrams - Switches and activation - Power - You should be able to look at your functional diagram and understand your whole system - Testing - Mass simulators during structural tests - Functional units during cold test - Image/optic testing with film - Subsystem and functional tests - Related to functional block diagram - Order of testing - Detailed test plan, start thinking about it General Feedback: Proposals

Consider a mission timeline, - When will things happen on your payload - Budget plan – Someone in charge of all expenses, receipts, and purchases - Launch plan – think about activation and recovery (how do you safe your hardware and data) - Schedule – class deliverables and hardware turn-in - Getting payload ready to fly again General Feedback: Proposals

- Don’t order any hardware until provided hardware is checked out to your team - Insulation and batteries will be provided - Spare parts General Feedback: Proposals

Presentation Feedback: - Some of you did really good - Some of you not so good - Ramrod dressed up - Supremo actually had each team member introduce themselves - Many of you went over time - Some of you practiced - Some of you had good eye contact and used your charts well - Some of you had easy to read charts - Scores varied

- On average, presentations were pretty good - Good summary of proposals - Some things to improved - Eye Contact - Hands-in the pocket - Reading charts - Some quiet talkers - In-effective use of charts - PRACTICE – who did and who didn’t - Senior Design General Feedback: Presentations

Proposal Feedback: - Well…

General Feedback: Proposals

Proposal Feedback: - Well… - The main issue was “HOW?” - Overall the proposals were disappointing - Only a few (2-3) really did it right - Take my comments seriously (if you can read them) - Make sure your address everything in DD A - You can meet with me next week to discuss - Don’t try and defend your proposal because I was very lenient. - Feedback will be on my door today at 2:00 PM

What Now?

- Begin… - Complete your actions by DD Rev A - Be frugal with you funds - Ask me if I have the hardware you need before buying - Come prepared to order your hardware on 10-11-07 - Careful about EBay and other on-line, shipping delays - Keep your receipts - Monitor your mass - Plan on lots of batteries - Get busy now - Don’t forget about final report and presentations - Take pictures of your work - Time when I will start to ---- you off What Now?
