3 What Determines Your Millennial Position?
What Determines Your Millennial Position? (Aside from your teaching mentor) What Determines Your Millennial Position? (Aside from your teaching mentor) How willing you are to interpret texts figuratively From the least to the most figurative are: Dispensational, Historic, Postmillennial, Amillennial. 2. What texts you start with: Historic Premillennial  Revelation 20 Dispensational Premillennial  Daniel 9 Postmillennial  Matthew 13 & 28 Amillennial  2 Peter 3 Preterism  Matthew 24 3. Socio-Political events Optimism feeds Postmillennialism; war or turmoil fosters Premillennialism; normalcy engenders Amillennialism.

4 HISTORIC PREMILLENNIALISM
A. HP was the major view in the first 3 centuries – until Christianity gained favored status under Constantine. B. Jesus will return to the earth after a seven year tribulation and establish a literal reign on earth for a thousand years (Rev 19:11-21). C. The first resurrection comes at the second coming; the second comes after the millennium (Rev 20:4-6). D. Following Christ’s reign, Satan will be released for a final battle with God. He will be destroyed, the earth will come to an end and eternity will ensue.

5 HISTORIC PREMILLENNIALISM
Mark of the Beast (Rev. 13:16-18) Man of Lawlessness/ Antichrist (2 Thess. 2:3; Rev. 13:3) Political Turmoil & Persecution The Tribulation 2nd Coming (Rev. 19:11ff) Jewish conversion (Rom 11:26) Gog & Magog Rev. 20:7-8; Eze Destruction 7 year tribulation (Dan 9:20-27 & Rev 6-16 esp.11-13) (Rev.20:1-4 1 Co. 15:25; Phil. 2:10-11) ETERNITY The Millennium 1,000 Political Domination (Is. 2:2-4) 2nd Res. (Rev. 20:5, 12-13) Extreme Wealth (Amos 9:13-15) Health & biological transformation Armageddon Revelation 19:17-21 Isa.11:8- 9; 65:20-25, cf. v. 17 Eze. 47:1- 12 Topological changes Rapture = 1st Res. (I Thess. 4:16-17)

6 Dispensational Premillennialism
This is essentially the same as Historic Premillennialism with a few significant additions: A more literal interpretation of Biblical descriptions of both the tribulation period and the millennium, giving greater priority to the O.T. over N.T. Emphasis on National Israel as the ultimate plan of God, especially in light of Daniel 9:24-27 and the categorizing of the world history into seven dispensations. A secret rapture either before the tribulation or right in the middle of it. First espoused by John Darby in More recently by Schofield, Linsey, Walvoord, Ryrie, LaHaye.

7 Dispensational Premillennialism
Mark of the Beast (Rev. 13:16-18) Man of Lawlessness/ Antichrist (2 Thess. 2:3; Rev. 13:3) Political Turmoil & Persecution Jewish conversion (Rom 11:26) Gog & Magog Rev. 20:7-8; Eze 2nd Coming (Rev. 19:11ff) Destruction 7 year tribulation (Dan 9:20-27 & Rev 6-16 esp.11-13) (Rev.20:1-4 1 Co. 15:25; Phil. 2:10-11) 1,000 Political Domination (Is. 2:1-4) 2nd Res. (Rev. 20:5, 12-13) Rapture = 1st Res. (I Thess. 4:16-17) Extreme Wealth (Amos 9:13-15) Health & biological transformation Armageddon Revelation 11:17-21 Isa.11:8& 9 65:20-25 cf. v. 17 Eze. 47:1- 12 Topological changes The Church is the 6th of 7 dispensations (cf. II Tim 2:15). It is merely a step (some would go so far as to say a “parenthesis”), in fulfilling GOD’S ultimate plan, which is the salvation of national Israel.

8 SEVEN DISPENSATIONS Seven Dispensations
2 Tim. 2:15 "Rightly dividing . . ." Seven Dispensations 2 Tim. 2:15 "Rightly dividing . . ." 1. INNOCENCY -- Garden 2. CONSCIENCE -- Fall 3. HUMAN GOVERNMENT -- Noah 4. PROMISE -- Abraham 5. LAW -- Moses 6. GRACE – The Church (parenthesis) 7. KINGDOM – The Millennium

9 Dispensational Premillennialism
(The clock is stopped between the 69th and 70th week of Daniel 9:24 -27) Pre trib mid trib secret rapture (I Thes. 5:2, Rev 4:1) League of ten nations (Rev 17:9-14) Mark of the Beast (Rev. 13:16-18) Man of Lawlessness/ Antichrist (2 Thess. 2:3; Rev. 13:3) Political Turmoil & Persecution Jewish conversion (Rom 11:26) Gog & Magog Rev. 20:7-8; Eze 2nd Coming (Rev. 19:11ff) Destruction 7 year tribulation (Dan 7:20-27 & Rev 6-16 esp.11-13) (Rev.20:1-4 1 Co. 15:25; Phil. 2:10-11) 1,000 ETERNITY 31/2 years 31/2 years Judgment Political Domination (Is. 2:1-4) 2nd Res. (Rev. 20:5, 12-13) Rapture = 1st Res. (I Thess. 4:16-17) Extreme Wealth (Amos 9:13-15) Health & biological transformation Pre trib or mid trib 1st resurrection (Rev 20:4-6) Armageddon Revelation 11:17-21 Isa.11:8& 9 65:20-25, cf. v. 17 Eze. 47:1- 12 Topological changes Zech 14:4; Isa 35:7; Amos 9:13 The Church is the 6th of 7 dispensations (cf. II Tim 2:15). It is merely a step (some would go so far as to say a “parenthesis”), in fulfilling GOD’S ultimate plan, which is the salvation of national Israel. Rebuilding of the temple and animal sacrifices reinstated (Ez )

10 Daniel’s 70 week Daniel’s 70 weeks
1. “Seventy Weeks” is literally 70 sevens. Like our word “dozen” it could refer to days, months or years. 2. There were three decrees issued for the rebuilding of Jerusalem: 538 by Cyrus to Zerubbabel (2 Chron 36:22-23; Ezra 1:1-4; 6:1-5) 457 by Artaxerxes to Ezra (Ezra 7:11-26; 9:9) [Amillennial choice] 445 by Artaxerxes to Nehemiah (Neh 2:1-8) [Dispensational choice] 3. There are three periods in the 70 weeks:  Seven Sevens = 49 years for rebuilding 62  Sixty-two sevens = 434 years until the Messiah  One seven = the final period filled with tribulation 4. We can expect six things to happen during this period:

11 Six Events of Daniel’s 70 Weeks
Premillennial Interp: Only for National Israel Amillennial Interp: Jesus and the cross Events in Daniel 9:24 Calvary Finish Transgression Jewish Rejection Redemption Put an end to sin Millennium Atonement Atone for sin Calvary, applied to Jews only in the millennium Salvation of Christians Bring Everlasting Righteousness Messianic Reign Relevant Messianic prophecies fulfilled Seal up Visions and Prophecy Every prophecy fulfilled Jesus’ ministry and ascension Anoint the Most Holy Either: Inauguration of Jesus or Reinstitution of the temple Jesus The Ruler (v ) The Antichrist

12 70 “Weeks”: Dispensational View
Verse 26:Messiah Cut off, Jerusalem Destroyed 445 B.C., decree 32 A.D. Jesus Returns 483 Years Verse 27: 1 week of Abomination 7 weeks Time Gap during the church age 62 weeks 3 1/2 3 1/2 (1st proposed by Robert Anderson in 1895) Problems: 1 Week 1. There are actually only 478 years, not 483, between 445 B.C. and 32 A.D. To make this work it has to be figured based on an inaccurate lunar calendar (a year of 360 = 12 X 30 X 3 ½ = 1,260 days [Rev 12:6, 14] ) A.D. puts the crucifixion on a Sunday or Monday. 3. A gap of 2K years is uncomfortable. 4. The atonement has to await the millennium to apply to the Jews. 5. How can a millennial reign be described as “everlasting righteousness”? 6. It requires the reinstitution of animal sacrifices.

13 70 “Weeks”: Amillennial View
Christ “cut off” sacrifices in 30 A.D. 457 B.C. 70 A.D. or Pentecost Cornelius’ Conversion 7 weeks 62 weeks 27 A.D. Jesus’ Ministry Church Age 3 ½ 3 ½ 483 years Problems: 1 week 1. There is no convincing explanation of the last 3 ½ years. 2. The “prince” v. 26 seems hostile to God. Could this be Messiah? 3. 27 A.D. is a problematic date for the beginning of Jesus’ mini-story. The 15th year of Tiberius (Lk 3:1) would point to A.D. 29. 4. The destruction of Jerusalem is outside the 70 weeks. Furthermore, Christians were not responsible for it but would have to have been if “the ruler” was Jesus (v. 26). 5. Sacrifices didn’t literally cease at Jesus’ death (v. 27)

14 POSTMILLENNIALISM The Church will grow increasingly stronger until it dominates the world politically and socially. The thousand years is likely not literal, and Jesus will reign from heaven through the word being preached, not from a throne in Jerusalem. Jesus will return after the millennium, gather the saints, destroy the earth and eternity will ensue. Postmillennialists tend to be the most politically active.

15 POSTMILLENNIALISM It was formulated most clearly by Daniel Whitby ( ) but popularized by Jonathan Edwards. It gained most ground in the 17th century, in part because it aligned with the goals and philosophies of burgeoning enlightenment ideals.

16 Postmillennialism CH 1,000 ETERNITY 1st Res. (Jn. 5:25-29)
Christ reigns from heaven. Rev. 19:15; Heb. 4:12. The Kingdom’s influence increases globally Ps. 47 & 110. Zech. 9: 10; Mat. 28: This Is especially seen in the parables of leaven and The mustard seed in Mt 13. 2nd coming (Mt 24:36-39) Destruction of the world (2 Pe 3:10) Judgment (Mat. 25:31-32) CH ,000 ETERNITY 1st Res. (Jn. 5:25-29) 2nd Res. (Rev 20:4-6) Resurrection of righteousness as the Church spreads.

17 AMILLENNIALISM The Thousand years is figurative, representing Christ’s present rule in the church, not a future kingdom. Augustine popularized Amillennialism which then dominated during the middle ages. Prefers non-figurative passages (like 2 Peter 3) as a basis for a simple end-times chronology, rather than complex apocalyptic or parabolic descriptions. At the second coming, several things happened in quick succession: (a) the bodily resurrection of righteous and wicked; (b) victory over Satan and the beast; (c) judgment; and (d) the transformation of the earth.

18 Amillennialism CH 1,000 ETERNITY 1st Res. (Jn. 5:25-29)
Rule of Christ is in the church on earth Revelation is cyclical not chronological 2nd coming (Mt 24:36-39) Destruction of the world (2 Pe 3:10) Judgment (Mat. 25:31) Satan is already bound by the Gospel (Mat. 12:28f, Jn. 12:31f, Heb. 2:14; Rev. 12:10-11) CH ,000 ETERNITY 1st Res. (Jn. 5:25-29) 2nd Res. (Rev 20:4-6) Conversion of Israel (Rom 11:26) Spiritual Res. (Conversion) &, or, Saints reign from Heaven A final period of tribulation

19 PRETERISM A. Jesus returned at 70 A.D. spiritually and in judgment. This takes Jesus’ statements at face value (Mt 10:23; 16:27-28; 24:34; 26:64; Mk 9:1; Luke 9:27) and explains the N.T. passages that speak of the nearness of Jesus return (1 Cor 7:29-31; 1 Thess 4:15-18; James 5:7-9; 1 Pet 4:7; 1 John 2:18; Rev 1:1) B. At the second coming in A.D. 70: (a) the Old Covenant was destroyed forever; (b) The plan of redemption was consummated; (c ) The Kingdom of God was established [invisibly]. C. The 1,000 years figuratively is the “wilderness wanderings” of the church between A.D

20 PRETERISM D. The first systematic exposition of Preterism was done by a Jesuit , Luis de Alcasar ( ). The first Protestant to accept it was Hugo Grotius (1644). E. The great commission has been completed (Rom 1:8, 16:25-27, Col 1:23) since the “world” (oikoumene) has heard the message and the “end of the age” has come. We now dwell in the New Jerusalem in Christ. F. The Scriptures never predict the end of the world. 2 Peter 3:16 speaks of the world’s systems and Rev speak of the destruction of the temple ordinances. G. Revelation was penned prior to 70 A.D.; hence 11:1-2 is a literal warning and was literally fulfilled. The 42 months were literally fulfilled between A.D.

21 PRETERISM H. Full Preterists (or Consistent Preterism): All biblical prophecies concerning Jesus’ return were fulfilled in 70 A.D. The resurrection is the rescue of the soul from Sheol, not a renewal of the physical body. I. Partial Preterits: Many end-time prophecies were fulfilled in 70 A.D. including a figurative return of Jesus. There is yet, however, to be a bodily return of Jesus and a future resurrection of the saints. J. Partial Preterism can be compatible with either Amillennialism or Postmillennialism.

22 PRETERIST ETERNITY 30 70 A.D. Heaven on earth
Jesus returns in 70 A.D. as he promised (Mt 10:23; 16:28; 24:34; 26:64) and as the rest of the N.T. expects (1 Cor 7:29-31; 1 Thes 4:15-18; James 5:7-9; 1 Peter 4:7; 1 Jn 2:18; Rev 1:1). The earth will abide forever (Eccl. 1:4, Ps. 78:69, Ps. 104: 5, Ps. 119:90; 148:4-6) This “completes” our redemption (Heb 8:13). There are no more: Animal Sacrifices Priestly Mediation Temple Complex ETERNITY 30 70 A.D. Heaven on earth 2nd Res. (Rev 20:4-6). When you die, you will live with God in heaven. This “1000” years is the “wilderness wanderings” of the church (2 Peter 2:8). Satan is bound (Rev 12:10-11; 20:2-3) as God protected his fledgling church Satan is released for a short time (Rev 20:3) which is A.D The martyrs and those given authority to judge “came to life” (in heaven) and reigned with Christ for “1,000” years [really 40] (Rev 20:4) after which the rest of the dead are raised (Rev 20:5) – after A.D. 70.

23 STRENGTHS HISTORIC DISPENSA- TIONAL POSTMIL. AMIL. PRETERIST
1. This view has the most natural reading of Rev. 20 HISTORIC 2. It historic and early roots commend it as authoritative. 3. It has a balanced hermeneutic and exegesis. DISPENSA- TIONAL 1. Clear chronology. 2. Consistent literal hermeneutic. 3. It engages the entire Bible into its eschatological scheme. 1. Positive and optimistic view of the progress of the Church. POSTMIL. 2. Good exegesis of Matthew 13 & 28:18-20. 1. It’s Based on 2 Peter 3 rather than apocalyptic literature. AMIL. 2. Expectation of Jesus’ eminent return. 3. The kingdom is present now (Mt 12:28; Lk 17:20-21). 1. It takes Jesus’ statements about his return literally. PRETERIST 2. Answer some difficult eschatological questions for apologists 3. It gives strong impetus to improve the present world.

24 Weaknesses HISTORIC DISPENSA- TIONAL POSTMIL. AMIL. PRETERIST
1. An earthy millennial kingdom seems anti-climactic. 2. Inconsistent hermeneutic: Figurative/Literal; Israel/church. HISTORIC 3. The kingdom is mongrel – resurrected and earthly. 4. A post-tribulation rapture seems odd. 1. Secret, mid-trib rapture. 2. The cross as plan “b” and a “paused clock.” DISPENSA- TIONAL 3. Literal interpretation which ignores conditional promises. 4. Kingdom is only future for Israel (cf. Mt 12:28 & 21:43). 1. Unrealistic about the direction of the world. POSTMIL. 2. It is a late development and not widely supported. 3. Arguing that most will be saved (cf. Mt 7:13-14; Lk 18:8) 4. Explains Rev 19:11-21 as church growth not the parousia. 1. Radically figurative in some texts, esp. OT prophecy AMIL. 2. Explanation of Satan’s binding in Rev 20 is questionable. 1. This present world is our “blessed hope” (1 Thess 2:19)?! 2. Jesus return was invisible, even unnoticed (cf. Mt 24:27). PRETERIST 3. Death, pain, and tears are not destroyed (Rev 21:4).

25 THE END

26 Revelation 13:16-18 He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.

27 Revelation 20:1-4 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

28 1 Corinthians 15:25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. Philippians 2:10-11 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

29 Isaiah 2:2-4 In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.“ The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

30 Amos 9:13-15 "The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills. I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them," says the LORD your God.

31 Isaiah 11:8-9 The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

32 Isaiah 65:20-21 (cf. v. 17) "Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat.

33 Isaiah 65:22-25 For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them. Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,"says the LORD.

34 Ezekiel 47:1-12 The man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.

35 2 Thessalonians 2:3 Revelation 13:3
Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. Revelation 13:3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was astonished and followed the beast.

36 Romans 11:26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.”

37 Revelation 19:17-21 And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, "Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and mighty men, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, small and great."

38 Zech 14:3-4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.

39 Isa 35:7 The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs. In the haunts where jackals once lay, grass and reeds and papyrus will grow. Amos 9:13 "The days are coming," declares the LORD, when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills.

40 Zech 14:3-4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.

41 Revelation 19:17-21, Cont. Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

42 1 Thess 4:16-17 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

43 Revelation 19:11ff. I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war.

44 Revelation 20:7-9 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth--Gog and Magog--to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them.

45 Revelation 20:5, 12-13 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done.

46 2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles (KJV = “Rightly Divides”) the word of truth.

47 Daniel 9:24-27 Seventy `sevens' are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven `sevens,' and sixty-two`sevens.' It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.

48 Daniel 9:24-27, Cont. After the sixty-two `sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He will confirm a covenant with many for one `seven.' In the middle of the`seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.

49 1 Thess 5:2; Rev. 4:1 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. _________________________________ After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”

50 Revelation 17:9-14 This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits. They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for a little while. The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

51 Revelation 17:9-14, Cont. The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast. They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast. They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings--and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.

52 Revelation 20:4-6 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

53 Revelation 20:4-6, Cont. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

54 Revelation 19:15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

55 Psalm 47:7-8 For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. Psalm 110:1-2 The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion; you will rule in the midst of your enemies.

56 Zechariah 9:10 I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the war-horses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken. He will proclaim peace to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.

57 Matthew 28:18-20 "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

58 John 5:25-29 I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out--those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.

59 Matthew 24:36-39 No one knows about that day or hour, not the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

60 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

61 Matthew 25:31-32 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

62 Revelation 20:4-6 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

63 Matthew 12:28-29 But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can rob his house.

67 John 5:25-29 I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out--those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.

68 Revelation 12:10-11 Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. 72 1 Cor 7:29-31 What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none; those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.

73 1 Thess 4:15-18 According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.
