We are currently at 92% and only need 15 new members to reach 100% membership for the year. As a reminder of American Legion policy, our membership year runs from 01Jul to 30Jun. If you wait to January 1st to pay your dues, your next year’s card may not reflect your years of continued membership. That is the way National does membership. So please pay your dues. Thanks to everyone who came out for our Membership Appreciation Day – the next one will be in April. For God and Country Marsha Martin Commander’s Corner At the General Membership Meeting on March 8, we will start taking nominations for Post Officers for 2011 – 2012. As the Legion Convention is on Jun 23, 2011, we must hold our elections at least 10 days before the Convention. So our Post elections will be held on May 10, 2011. Holding office at the Post is not just about filling the position which you are elected for, it’s about volunteering your time and energy to support/help with all of the functions/events held at the Post. Attendance at the meetings are falling off, please try to attend General Meetings to see what your Post is doing in support of the Veterans. We tried a Friday night Dance in Feb. It didn’t turn out as well as I would have liked it to, but at least we tried. We may look at a Saturday night dance in three months or so. I’m still working on a Poker Run to Repair the Sign. It will be held on Saturday April 30, 2011. I will be Chairman of that committee, so if you want to help please let me know as I need help with all aspects of this charity endeavor. Come support the American Legion Birthday/St. Patty’s Day in the Lounge on Sunday March 13 at noon. Please support the Ladies of Unit 240. For God and Country Jimmy Lee Martin Auxiliary President – Congratulations ladies! We have reached out 103% membership as of January 15th. I want to thank all of you for your support. Our Valentine campaign for Favor House has been a huge success with $487being collected in donations and a $100 donation from the Post for a total of $587. Thank you for your generous contributions for the most worthy organization and a big “Thank You” to Ginny Hippard for selling the hearts. On March 8th we will start taking nominations for Unit officers for the upcoming year. We must hold elections at least 10 days before Convention and it is on June 23rd therefore elections will be held on May 10th. March 19th is the Auxiliary District meeting at Post 75 in Crestview with registration starting at 9:30am and meeting at 10am. Please attend if at all possible as these are very informative meetings. April 9th is our ‘Bunny Hop’ in the hall with Bobby Bixby as DJ for only $5 per person at the door. The dress will be 50’s & 60’s; so break out those ‘poodle skirts’ ladies and all those petticoats for a fun filled evening of dance. April 23rd will be the Easter Egg Hunt for the children starting at 2pm in the pavilion. We need volunteers to help hide eggs and decorate; we are also looking for a volunteer to be Mr. Bunny. For God and Country Mary Taffaro LADIES AUXILIARY PRESIDENT Mary Taffaro 251-978-0420 CHAPLAIN Mary Fahrforth 261-7040 3rd Vice Commander Your fish fries are back in full swing and your cook/ serving staff looks forward to providing you with a good meal on each first Sunday of the month.
