2 Title Three of the Student Body Statutes The Executive The President shall act as the head of the Executive Branch and shall be assisted by the Vice President. The Executive Branch shall act as the administrative arm of SGA, shall enforce all laws set forth in the Student Body Statutes, be responsible for implementing Student Government initiatives, and working towards improving the overall well being of the Students of Florida State University. Presidential Powers: Presidential Powers: –Enforce all Laws of the Student Body –Appoint it’s own Cabinet –The ability to veto legislation passed by the Senate –Make recommendations for legislation to the Senate. –Remove any officer whom they have appointed. –Serve as the Representative of the Student Body on the FSU Board of Trustees –Along with the Treasurer, prepare the Budget of the Executive Branch

3 Title Three of the Student Body Statutes The Executive The President’s Cabinet is made up of Administrative Support Offices that work toward providing information and assistance in a specific area of expertise for the President and Vice President. Each Administrative Support Office shall have a Secretary and Deputy Secretary, where the Secretary acts as the Director of the department. Each office acts as merely an advisory body and holds no binding powers. The Administrative Support Offices are as follows: The Administrative Support Offices are as follows: –The Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for providing the President with information and program options relating to academic issues that face students. –The Office of Administration is in charge of making sure the Cabinet is running properly and that initiatives are being implemented properly. The O.A. is chaired by the Chief of Staff. –The Office of Campus Concerns is responsible for advising the President on issues that relate to concerns of the student body that include but are not limited to housing, parking/transportation, and campus cleanliness. –The Office of Disabled Affairs is responsible for advising the President on issues that relate to students with handicaps or disabilities on campus. –The Office of Internal Affairs is responsible for advising the President on issues relating to the rest of Student Government including the Senate, Campus Recreation and the Union Board. 4 Title Three of the Student Body Statutes The Executive –The Office of Legal Affairs is responsible for providing legal advice to the President and the rest of the Cabinet pertaining to the Student Body Constitution and Statutes. –The Office of Management and Budget is in charge of advising the President on all fiscal matters of the Student Government. This includes creating the budget of the Executive Branch and solving financial problems the Cabinet may face. –The Office of Multicultural Affairs is responsible for advising the President on issues facing students belonging to any social, ethnic or religious minority group. –The Office of Public Relations is in charge of publicizing the activities of SGA. This includes establishing candidate searches and keeping the public informed of the goings on of the Executive Office, Agencies and Bureaus. –The Office of Special Projects is in charge of coming up with and implementing projects that entertain and educate the Student Body. –The Office of the Treasurer is chaired by the Student Body Treasurer and is responsible for advising, reviewing and approving the financial activity of all RSO’s, Agencies, Bureaus and Funding Boards. –The Office of Women’s Affairs is responsible for advising the President on all issues relating to the women of FSU. Underclassman Council Underclassman Council –The purpose of the Underclassman Council is to serve the needs of students of Freshman and Sophomore ranking. They provide a way for Undergraduates to get involved in Student Government and shall serve as a voice of the Undergraduate population.

5 Title Three of the Student Body Statutes The Executive Presidential Appointments and Dismissal Powers Presidential Appointments and Dismissal Powers –After a SGA position has been properly advertised for two weeks, the Office of Administration shall interview and screen all applicants for the position. After the screening process, the President may forward the most qualified candidate for the position to the Senate for confirmation. These are the general steps taken to fill positions for the Administrative Support Offices and the Directors of Executive Bureaus. –In the case of Executive Agencies, the outgoing Board of Directors of that Agency shall by majority vote select two nominees for the position of future Director. The President shall then choose from these two candidates and forward them to be approved by the Senate. The Campus Security Council The Campus Security Council –This group shall provide programming that promotes increased safety and security at Florida State University. They shall be the official advisors to the President on issues of campus security and safety. The State of the Student Body Address The State of the Student Body Address –The President is required to deliver a State of the Student Body address no later than the fourth week of the Fall semester. This is a chance for the President to publicly outline his administrations accomplishments and goals. It shall serve as a supplement to the addresses he makes to the Senate upon invitation. There is an Executive Projects Account that will only be accessed to fund projects that need to be implemented by the Executive Branch. There are restrictions towards what this money can be spent on which must be passed by Senate Resolution.
