8 What is a Photo Essay? A photo essay is a collection of photographs selected to tell a story or convey an idea with the minimum of words. A photo essay can be made up of just a few photographs or it can be long enough to comprise a book. 16 Assignment: 1.Pick a story or theme for your photo essay. You may a.work on an account of a past event. b.explore the problems faced by the local people. c.focus on one of the Articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

17 2.Select four to six photos to include in the photo essay. Arrange them in a way that you think would be effective in conveying the story or theme. 3.Create captions and a text of about 100 words to accompany the photos. 4.Remember that the photos should do most of the “speaking.” 5.Give your photo essay a title that will provoke curiosity.
