18 How to register?? Log onto www.eligibilitycenter.orgwww.eligibilitycenter.org Select the “New Account” button at the top right of the screen. Complete the registration. There is a $60 registration fee for domestic students.

20 Core Course Requirements 4 years of English 3 years of Math (Algebra I or higher) 2 years of Natural/Physical Science (1 year of lab if offered by high school) 1 year additional of English, Math, or Natural/Physical Science 2 years of Social Science 4 years of Additional Courses (from any area above, Foreign Language, and Philosophy) 16 Total *All courses must be on the NCAA’s list of approved courses for the respective high school.

21 Core-Course Completion “On Time” From the time you entered the ninth grade You have four (4) years or eight (8) semesters to complete the 16 core-course requirements If you don’t complete the 16 core-courses “on time” in eight semesters, core courses taken after the eighth semester will not be counted toward your NCAA academic eligibility requirements “On time” also means that if your high school graduation take place June 1 st, you must graduate June 1 st

24 NCAA D-I Requirements In order to practice, compete, and receive institutional financial aid as a freshman you must… – Graduate from high school – Complete 16 core-courses in the required subject areas – Earn a minimum required GPA in those 16 cores courses – Earn a combined SAT or ACT sum score that matches the core-course GPA (refer to the “sliding scale” in the NCAA’s Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete)

35 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) What is SAAC? – The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee consists of appointed representatives from each athletic team. The committee meets regularly with athletic administrators to discuss issues concerning student-athletes. Its purpose is to serve as the link between the student-athletes and the Athletic Department administration. Committee members get involved in campus projects, community service, and fundraising.

37 Student-Athlete Mentors (SAMs) What are SAMs? – SAMs serve as mentors to first-year Red Flash student-athletes. SAMs serve as role models in leadership, scholarship, and service; in addition to taking an active role in helping the student-athletes whom he or she is mentoring.

40 Internship Program The Internship Program aims to provide students real-world experience working with Saint Francis University’s Department of Athletics and help them in their desired career paths. 43 School Datebooks Daily Planners – ALL student-athletes for the 2015-16 academic year will be supplied with a daily planner by the Student-Athlete Development Center to aid with time management skills.

44 Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Dr. Maria Colmer (Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy) – The Faculty Athletics Representative can be contacted about any matters that deal with athletics and academics. As Chair of the AAB, the FAR leads the way in bringing student-athlete issues to the University Administration and community members, while also maintaining the Athletic Department's adherence to the University's academic policies. The AAB is a University-wide committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students representing various University constituencies. Student-athletes also have representation on the AAB. The AAB has subcommittees that monitor, evaluate, and address matters concerning gender equity, minority opportunities, student-athlete welfare, sportsmanship and ethical conduct, and academic integrity.
