Define the project: “Start with a cogent and concise one sentence statement of the business idea. A sentence that is so clear and appealing that the reader can immediately visualise or see the business”.
Short term impact: Increase social activity for social users Skill development
Long term impact: Movement into less supported living? Qualifications? Generate funding to pay for other services?
Project summary What’s the potential scale of this business? Is the idea really sound? How strong is the team? What’s the risk and return?
History The short history section should answer the question: where are we now and what have we already achieved? This could include a description of the service already offered. This can be secured accurately from the website!
Product or Service Aims and objectives of the project: What is the project hoping to achieve? Who will they be working with? What are the steps will you take to get there? What it will be used for? What makes your project unique or distinctive advantages? What could go wrong with the project?
Market and competitors? Who is delivering what and where? How is your product / service different from theirs? You will need to carryout internet based research to investigate what is out there. You show good qualitative (descriptive) understanding of how the market works, what your customers want, how you can reach them and what adjustments they may have to make to support your product or service.
Reaching the market How will you price your product? What will it cost you? How will you promote the product? Word of mouth Flyers Website Special events
Production and operations What resources will you need? How will you monitor the effectiveness of the product?
Management How much experience have they got? Do they have track record for delivering? What have they delivered already? What skills and qualities will your staff need?
Finance – Don’t get too detailed! Fundraising strategies: Grants from the government? Self funding? Private funding? Research and identify sources of potential funding Attendance at the centre will generate funding, therefore you should focus this section numbers of people using the service How much money do they currently make? - look on charity commission website.
Offsite trip We will leave at 1:00 – meet at the class room Wear appropriate clothing – waterproofs and suitable shoes Please complete the over 18s consent form We return by 3:15 The cost of the trip will be £2.50 – we will pay on entry to the centre
