1 Chapter 1 Introduction

2 Welcome! Welcome to the Basic Structural Nonlinearities in ANSYS Workbench Simulation training course! This training course covers basic procedures for performing structural nonlinear analyses using Workbench Simulation. It is intended for users already familiar with the procedures for performing a linear static analysis in Workbench Simulation environment. Prerequisite to this course is ANSYS Workbench – Simulation Introduction Not intended for users wishing to work primarily in the traditional ANSYS environment. Those users should consider taking Basic & Advanced Structural Nonlinearities in ANSYS Training courses. This course covers the Simulation module of ANSYS Workbench for nonlinear analyses. DesignModeler, DesignXplorer, FE Modeler, and CFX-Mesh modules of ANSYS Workbench are covered in separate classes. February 4, 2005 Inventory #002177 1-2

3 Course Materials The Training Manual you have is an exact copy of the slides. Workshop descriptions and instructions are included in the training manual. Copies of the workshop files are available (upon request) from the instructor. Several advanced training courses are available on specific topics. See the training course schedule on the ANSYS homepage under “Training Services”. DesignModeler and DesignXplorer Training Courses are also available, which cover usage of these other Workbench modules. February 4, 2005 Inventory #002177 1-3
