All 11 year olds will transfer to secondary school in *Exceptional circumstances may apply
Parents must decide which school would be best suited to their child.

Admissions Criteria
Admissions criteria are set by the Board of Governors of the Secondary School.
Only Grammar Schools may apply Academic Criteria
Criteria could range from locality, FSM, siblings and may be different for every school.
Familiarise yourself with “Transfer 2015.” Seek clarification from secondary schools.

Application Form
It is the responsibility of Parents to ensure that all relevant information is included on the form.
Secondary Schools have a duty to verify information. You may be asked to verify information if that information has enabled your child to gain a place.
(Do not send any other documentation at this time unless specifically directed to in the entrance criteria. E.g. Entrance Test Results)
Completed forms should be returned to Nazareth House P.S. for forwarding to W.E.L.B. by February 13th. *

Special Circumstances
Schools that use academic performance for selection may consider medical or other problems which might have affected performance.
Special Provision
Children coming from a school outside N.I. or who have received more than half their primary education outside N.I. may be considered for Special Provision.
Please read each schools criteria for accepting Special Circumstances and Special Provision.

January 2015 – February 2015
Post-primary schools hold Open Days/Evenings
Friday 13 February 2015
Final date for completed Transfer Forms to be forwarded to ELBs by primary schools.
4th March 2015
Final date for changes of preference to be received by ELBs. (unless under exceptional circumstances- 13th May)
22nd May Letter confirming offer of a place.
8th June Final Date for any appeal.

What Now?
Familiarise yourself with “Changing Schools at Eleven.”
Attend relevant Open Days
Talk to your child
Take cognisance of school reports
Nominate Preferences on form. At least four nominations are required. (at least one non grammar school)
Return the completed forms to us at your earliest convenience but at least by Feb. 10th so that we can process the forms and get them to WELB by 13th..
