3 Case Background In palm oil plantation, the full fruit bunch (FFB) is being collected through mechanization. Agriculture tractors pulling trailers that after that filled with FFB. The loading can be done either manually or with hydraulic mechanical grabber.

4 Case Background After the collection, the FFB will be loaded into a bin at the side of the main path for bigger tractors to bring it to the mill.

5 Case Background Sime Darby TMA (SD TMA) had designed an agriculture tractors that will suit the In-Field operation in the palm oil plantations. The tractors can navigate through the small path in the palm oil plantation, evacuate the FFB, and loaded the FFB into a bin.

6 Case Statement – Lifter System
The agriculture tractor focus is to operate in peat-soil area where the soil strength is low. The weight of the scissor lifter will contribute to improve the performance of the tractor during operating the peat-soil area. The current weight of the lifter is 365kg which should be improved.

7 Case Statement – Lifter System
There are some plantation that don’t use bins to load FFB at the side of the main road. The tractor’s lifter design must be convertible type between fix frame (without scissor lifter) and scissor lifter to suit the customer needs. Without scissor lift With scissor lift

8 Case Statement – Lifter System
The current design of the lifter have about 85 number of parts. This will create a problem for the production of assembling process man hours of the lifter. This will also create problem for the service team to disassembly and reassembly the lifter for repair in the plantation.

9 Technical Specifications
The minimum load that the lifter can lift must be 1000kg. The chassis is C Channel 125x65x6t. The material is steel S275J. The dimensions of the lifter’s maximum width & length are 830mm & 2050mm. The minimum height of the lifter is 1350mm.

10 Technical Specifications
The lifter system must be using hydraulic system. The pump have nominal pressure of 400bar and produce 56 in/cm3. The distance from the hydraulic tank to the lifter is approximately 2750mm.

11 Technical Specifications
The strength of the system must be able to withstand vertical & horizontal forces during lifting. The system must be able to be stable even on a 5° side incline angle.

12 Project Objectives Follow the technical specifications for the basis of the lifter: Minimum load Chassis specifications Lifter dimensions – width, length & height Reduce the weight of the lifter. The weight of the current lifter is 365kg. Lighter lifter system is preferable. Design a lifter system that able to be convertible in case the customer opted not to have the lifter. This can minimize the design & production process. Reduce the number of parts in the assembly process. The current quantity is 85 pieces of parts. Smaller number of parts is preferable. Calculate the time to take for the lifter for up and down cycle. Use the technical specifications of the hydraulic pump for the calculations. The lifter must be able to be able to be stable in 5° side incline angle.
