3 Middle School Validation
Beginning Fall 2015 (Fiscal Year 2016), teachers instructing middle school career-technical education courses must meet one of the following: 1. Possess a current, five-year Ohio professional license that includes middle school grade levels, and complete the Ohio Department of Education’s career-technical education validation process by Sept. 30, 2015. 2. Possess a current, five-year career-technical education license. No middle school validation required. 3. Possess a four-year alternative resident educator license for career-technical education and only teach VM middle school courses within their specific program and taxonomy. 4. Four-year non-CTE resident educators cannot teach VM Career-Technical Education middle school courses.

4 Middle School Waiver Legislation provides opportunities to expand CTE in grades 7 and 8 Districts must provide CTE programming in both grades 7 and 8, or request waiver from ODE Waiver is due Sept. 30 for each year the district does not intend to offer MS programming

6 Adult Diploma Program Adults, at least 22 years old High school diploma Industry credential or certificate Overview H.B created the Adult Career Opportunity Pilot Program Purpose: To assist adults, who are at least 22 years old, complete their high school diploma while completing an industry credential or certificate.

7 Eligible Applicants Ohio Community Colleges Technical Colleges
State Community Colleges Ohio Technical Centers Eligible Applicants Eligible Applicants: Ohio community colleges, technical colleges, state community colleges and Ohio Technical Centers as defined in Ohio Revised Code, Chapter 3354, 3357 and 3358.

8 Planning Requirements
Allows students to obtain a high school diploma while completing the requirements for an approved industry credential or certificate Provides career advising and outreach Affords opportunities for students to receive a competency-based education

9 Adult Diploma Five pilot sites implementing in FY16 -Miami Valley CTC -Penta Career Center -Pickaway-Ross -Stark State College -Cuyahoga Community College

11 Program Review The Program Review process is currently a work in progress between three ODE offices: Accountability, EMIS and Data The goal is to create a streamlined process that doesn’t burden districts but is beneficial in the continuous improvement of CTE programming Director will provide more details at Ohio ACTE Streamline to not be a burden but beneficial
