3 AIP-7 GEOSS Capacity Building WG -The main activity of the Capacity Building WG has been to support exchange of information, shared resources and processes, relationships and skills among different people within each organization. -The GEO Secretariat has helped by establishing a bi-weekly Telecon. -We also populate the IEEE-Earth Best Practices Wiki to clarify and/or identify AIP-CB issues: http://wiki.ieee- earth.org/Best_Practices/GEOSS_Transverse_Areas/Capacity_ building -Participated to the GEOSS GeoCAB portal.

4 AIP-7 GEOSS Chile Capacity Building Chile has been actively involved in the GEOSS Activity, lead by Luciano Parodi and, within this AIP disaster scenario, by me. Chile answered a CfP for AIP7 in order to: 1-develop testing disasters scenarios and products that allow experts in Chile to strengthen their knowledge and resilience. 2- develop testing disasters scenarios that allow international experts to support Chile during a disaster event. Leverage of national and international resources. The goal is to contribute to develop interoperable geospatial application to help manage disasters in Chile.

5 AIP-7 GEOSS Chile Capacity Building -We develop three different testing disaster scenarios: one in Talcahuano, another in Iquique and a third one in Copahue. Talcahuano: Stricken by a magnitude 8.8 earthquake and tsunami on 27 February 2010. Death toll of 500 and economic damages for $30 billion. Iquique: Stricken by an 8.2 magnitude quake on April 1, 2014, however the fault only partially ruptured. Copahue: Volcanic activity caused o n May 28, 2013 the evacuation of ca 3,000 residents. Further activity in October, 2014.
