2. Key Concept: Def.: An Adjective is a word to describe a noun or a pronoun to give a noun or pronoun a more specific meaning. Adjectives answer these questions: What Kind? Large hawk, purple feather, lost boy Which One? That bird, any number, last opportunity, other door How Many?Both swans, five dollars, some falcons, frequent buyer How Much?Enough birdseed, more fun, less effort, adequate space Suffixes such as –ive, -ible, and –able are often used to transform nouns into adjectives. For example, response becomes responsive or responsible and reason becomes reasonable.

3. Key Concept: An Adjective may come before OR after the noun it modifies/describes. BEFORE: The large condor is at the zoo. AFTER: The condor at the zoo is large.

4. Key Concept: Two or more adjectives can modify one word. Example: Several, small, fuzzy chicks were running around the farm. IMPORTANT: When you have two or more adjectives in a row describing a noun, you must use COMMAS to separate them. Write a sentence using 2 more adjectives in a row, demonstrating correct comma usage.
