10. HOPE IS…. This poem was composed collaboratively. Each child wrote a poem about what they felt the feeling of hope is like. They then chose their best rhyming couplet to be added to our class poem. We hope you’ll agree the effect is quite powerful!

Hope is always there when you heart disbelieves Hope is the waving of the palm leaves, Hope is the certainty breaking through the worry, Hope is the thank you instead of the sorry, Hope is the sound of the clock ticking by, Hope is like a dove flying in the sky, Hope is the seed in the green grass fields, Hope is the peace that comes with the shield. Hope is the crack of light through the door, Hope is the peace at the end of the war. Hope is the paper without a crease, Hope is the cleaner amongst the grease.

12. Hope is the first amber in the rock Hope is the key that opens any lock. Hope is the train carriage that doesn’t derail, Hope is the feeling that will never fail. Hope is the swan flying up high, Hope is the love in waving goodbye. Hope is the light in the sky Hope is the truth after the lie. Hope is the first rain breaking the drought, Hope is the thing that never runs out. Hope is the number going round and round, Hope is the opal in the solid hard ground.

13. Hope is the sunlight that shines in the air, Hope is the paper without a tear. Hope is the first smile which breaks a frown, Hope is the first salmon swimming down. Hope is the first shimmering light Hope is the dawn after the vast long night. Hope is the light, not the dark Hope is the robin and not the lark. Hope is the sky that hasn’t got hail, Hope is the trail that will never fail. Hope is the first day of a happy sign, Hope is the top of a rowdy line.

Hope is the lone star in the black night Hope is the life that stays after a fight. Hope is the warmth after a draught, Hope is a cry turning into a laugh, Hope is the last oasis in the desert warmth, Hope is the last boat in the restless storm, Hope is the leaf in the autumn sun, Hope is the peace after the gun. Hope is the light amongst the dark, Hope touches you and leaves its mark.
