Electrostatic Fields April 7th

List 3 situations observed in class when two objects interacted with each other without touching each other.

Blanket and basketball observation experiment. -stretched blanket -basketball in the center -marble that can be placed on the blanket at any position

Blanket and basketball experiment (continued) -What happens to the marble on the blanket? -What object causes the marble to roll? -What object “carries” the interaction to the marble?

Thought experiment -If the blanket were infinitely big, and I had a basketball in the center and I put a marble on the edge, would the basketball still cause the marble to roll? -If I put a bowling ball in the center, how would the motion of the marble change? -If the blanket were invisible, how could I determine if the blanket were deflected at all?

Describe the deflection of the blanket. Sketch it.

Describe the deflection of the blanket here. Sketch. Which big blue object is more massive? Why?
