1 Getting Started at Your Own Site and Teaching Others How to Use the ECI

2 Getting Certified to Administer and Score the ECI 1. Practice administration at your site and do self- assessment using administration guide. 2. When ready, videotape what you feel is a good administration to be checked by someone already certified at your site or at a neighboring program. Criterion is 81% or higher. 3. Code the final 2 practice sessions on the tape provided and check coding reliability with a certified staff person designated as a Master Trainer. Criterion is 85% or higher on each practice session scored.

3 For Trainers: Certification Protocol and Certifying Others Send 1 administration tape per site to Juniper Gardens to have administration session reviewed. Conduct a self-check first by using the Administration Checklist to score (81% criterion) Send 1 administration tape per site to Juniper Gardens to have administration session reviewed. A copy of the scores for certification should also be kept at each program. 5 Training Others Once you are trained how to administer the ECI and have met the criterion for administration and scoring, you may use the same format as the one we’ve followed today using the PowerPoint files and information available on the website to train others Once you are trained how to administer the ECI and have met the criterion for administration and scoring, you may use the same format as the one we’ve followed today using the PowerPoint files and information available on the website to train others To be certified, scores on each practice session need to meet the 85% criterion or above. The score for the Administration Checklist should be 81%. If not met, continue to practice scoring the practice sessions and discuss problem areas in scoring until criterion is met. Figure their reliability using the key provided to program directors or person responsible for training (contact Juniper Gardens for key once you are certified).
