1 Problem Addressed The Navigation –Aided Retrieval tries to provide navigational aided query processing. It claims that the conventional Information Retrieval Paradigm, which assumes that no navigation takes place. It describes a method by which we can do navigation aided Retrieval

2 Solution It first performs the normal search using the query and each of the result would become the starting seed for the navigation. The navigation from one page to another is determined by a method called WUFIS a stochastic model for user navigation behavior.

3 Criticism The method assumes that the search task is completed by the user by just clicking on one page and then it starts the navigation from there. The starting point for the query may be multiple links away from the documents matching the query. It claims that the clustering that the present methods provide are based on the results and not on the pre defined clusters in the Internet, which is not entirely true. It’s trying not only to reinvent the wheel but also not able to provide with good results and also not provide with good answers.

4 Relation to the Course This focuses on clustering the results and use the link structure of the internet to be able to provide with the navigational help. We have discussed in detail about the same in the class.
