3 Strengthen Orlando Program A comprehensive economic action plan to sustain our community and ensure Orlando remains in position for future growth and prosperity. Three EDV “pillars” : –Orlando Builds –Orlando Works –Buy Local Orlando

4 2009/2010 Strengthen Orlando Initiatives Expedited permit and review process –Projects creating ten or more jobs Five day commercial plan review –Expedites construction One day residential plan review Extended all permit expirations for an additional year Provided same day inspections

5 2009/2010 Strengthen Orlando Initiatives (cont.) Offered home renovation reviews Expanded UCF Business Incubator – Orlando and its services Expanded Mayor’s Business Assistance Team Recruited businesses to participate in Orlando Main Street Program Launched Buy Local Orlando Program

6 Strengthen Orlando Results Created more than 600 jobs in 2010 as a result of expedited permit review process Administered 10 Sewer Impact Fee payment plans Provided 3,447 same day inspections out of 62,990 total inspections Expedited plan review for projects such as: –Alinean, iGPS- projects in Downtown representing 85 new high wage jobs to our economy and almost $400,000 in capital investment

7 Strengthen Orlando Results Created Mayor’s BAT Team Customer Care Center in Permitting Services to increase access and visibility Recruited approximately 300 business members to join the Orlando Main Street program in five districts Registered 500+ businesses in Buy Local Orlando Program; distributed 120,000+ consumer cards Created more than 900 jobs by expediting more than $180 million in planned capital projects.

9 2009 – 2010 Impacts Transportation Impact Fee Payment Plan Recipients: –Piranha Cable (26 employees) –Jimmy John’s (25 employees) –Alfonso’s Pizza (25 employees) –Ramada Plaza Resort (45 employees) –Draft Orlando (46 employees) –St. Phillip’s Anglican Church –Xymogen (>100 employees) –Toyota of Orlando (relocation) These projects represent a total capital investment of over $30 million and over 250 jobs

10 2011 Strengthen Orlando Initiatives Continue to expedite permit and review process for projects creating more than ten jobs Continue to offer payment plans for transportation and sewer impact fees Continue five day commercial plan review to expedite construction Continue one day residential plan review Extend all permit expirations for an additional year Continue same day inspections Continue home renovation reviews

14 Proposal 25 % reduction in the City’s Transportation Impact Fee –All uses –Temporary reduction applied to new building permits June 27, 2011 (First Reading) July 11, 2012 Consultant recommendation to follow –July 2012
