8/17/031 Geant4 Simulations Guilherme Lima, Jeremy McCormick General Comments Test Stand (JM) Test Beam (GL)

8/17/032 General Comments New Geant4 Projects Two custom Geant4 simulators: Test Beam: DESY Test Beam prototype Test Stand: NICADD Test Stand coding partially based on Geant4 examples and LCDG4 incorporate “hard-coded” geometries, PhysicsList based on Geant4 exampleN03 (soon Mokka), RO format from LCDG4-NP, and macro running capability for single particles (no STDHEP input currently, but easy to add) visualization with OpenGL

8/17/033 Test Beam: Overview & Geometry Geometry ~50 layer calorimeter 1x 1 m (XY), each layer = 2.5 cm 2 cm stainless steel absorber 1 cm polystyrene scintillator sensitive region divided into inner square with 3 x 3 cm cells and outer with 5 x 5 no air gap requested by Vishnu; started on 8/11 by Jeremy simulate pions fired along Z axis, through center cal.

8/17/034 Test Beam: Geometry Shots Side View: 50 layers Front View: cell array

8/17/035 Test Beam: Output Format LCDG4-NP format for analysis format: EVENT # Layer … cell {x y z} edep … ( “…” indicates some dummy info.) example: EVENT 1 11 0 0 -15 -15 372.5 0.909166 0 … standard 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50 GeV series requested

8/17/036 Test Beam: Run Shots 1 Inner Cal.Angled View

8/17/037 Test Beam: Run Shots 2 Side ViewFront View

8/17/038 Test Stand: Overview & Geometry Geometry 12 layer stand in wood box (container not modelled) layer = plastic box with 7-cell array and brass absorber plate (~1 inch) polystyrene cells with 19 mm / side, 5 mm thickness additional absorber plate on top requested by Dhiman/Vishnu; started by Guilherme simulates cosmic rays, i.e. muons, fired downward along Y axis

8/17/039 Test Stand: Cell Array 0,0 0,2 0,-2 1,-1 -1,11,1 -1,-1

8/17/0310 Test Stand: Geometry Shots

8/17/0311 Plans and Final Comments NICADD Geant4 Project’s Website http://nicadd.niu.edu/~jeremy/g4proj/index.html To Do List Both: replace exampleN03 physics with Mokka Test Beam: check output for accuracy (cell coords. & edep) and analyze datasets (Vishnu) Test Stand: complete RO scheme and produce datasets; coordinate with Test Stand team for useful tests, results certification, etc.
