1. Teacher’s Instructions Use the song in Unit 4 of Zap A (listening 20) This powerpoint is timed so that as you click for each syllable it will appear. It further allows you to introduce the song in two stages: vocab and words/reading. You can sing the children a line and ask them how many “beats” there are in the line. Elicit their guesses and then tap out a line, counting to check. Once they get the idea of beats, go through the song once with them singing and you tapping. Then get the children to come to the board and do it, perhaps one child per verse. Tapping out the song while seeing parts of words appear should help them acquire an understanding of syllables in English. The first section has images illustrating the words of the song which animate the same way. Here, students are relying on knowing the vocabulary to sing the song. As each word has one syllable, tapping out these pictures automatically helps them with rhythm. The second section animates the same way but with words. And no, I couldn’t find any decent images to illustrate “with me”!
