4. Comments: It is interesting to see that the Br(3/2) atomic lines, generally, are much stronger than the Br(1/2) lines. Similar effect was seen for CF 3 Br except for atomic lines close to 84000 cm -1 (article). Similar effect was also seen for CH 3 Br, but not as dramatic differencearticle This suggests that formation of Br(3/2) is favored over Br(1/2). Lets compare this with photodissociation studied via excitations to repulsive states. The Br atomic peaks at 79696.8 and 79868 cm-1 (Br(3/2) ->->( 3 P 0 )5p)are enhanced (compared to both CF 3 Br and CH 3 Br) and happen to coinside with the Rydberg state peak(s) near 79650 cm -1 which has been assigned to a 6d Rydberg state (?) (http://notendur.hi.is/agust/rannsoknir/rempi/ch2br2/PPT-121011ak.ppt). This strongly suggests that indeed the corresponding Br(3/2) atoms are formed via excitation to thehttp://notendur.hi.is/agust/rannsoknir/rempi/ch2br2/PPT-121011ak.ppt Rydberg state (6d). Lets compare the Br atomic line spectra from the three compounds (CH 3 Br, CF 3 Br and CH 2 Br 2 by putting them all into one PXP file /figure.
