NTFS File System

3 RJB Technical Consulting www.SharePointSpecialists.com Pre-requisites For installing Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Database Server : Any OS version that supports MS SQL Server 2000 or 2005 MS SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2000 with Service Pack 3 The database server does not have to be dedicated to Sharepoint. Optionally, the database server can be a SQL Cluster.

Database Server : Dual Processor computer with processor clock speed of 2.0GHz or higher and a minimum of 2GB RAM.

Web application service accounts need to be manually given Local activation permission to the IIS WAMREG Admin service components.

Once Operations are configured, test you backup/restore before going any further in your installation. Backup after each section is configured ( Operations, Applications, Shared Services )

37 RJB Technical Consulting www.SharePointSpecialists.com Hints and Tips Before creating your SSP, make sure you have the Windows Search Services and Office Search Services up and running in the Central Admin Operations Console. Use the embedded “web application creation” from the SSP creation screen for the SSP and My Site Web Application. All Web Application should have their own service accounts.

If you have multiple Web Applications, remember to switch from one to another to configure the settings for each of them. The last web application you select from the web application list is always the one settings initially applies to. Make sure you enable the “Self-Site Management” feature for your “My Site” web application. Backup the system from the Operations console.

When configuring your content sources and crawl schedules, select the “Start full crawl of this content source” before exiting”. Test the searches and “My Site” creations.

Depending on options purchased, verify that you have all your features enabled on all sites. In the “Office Sharepoint Shared Services” section of the Application Management page, click on “Services Enabled on this farm” and verify that there are no errors. Using the Scheduler and stsadm.exe, Create and enforce backup jobs.
