23. Reference List Tips References should appear in hanging indent form; first line at the left margin, each succeeding line of a reference entry is indented. In titles of books, articles, films, and broadcasts capitalize only the first word of the title, the first word after a colon or dash, and proper nouns. In periodical titles capitalize all major words and all words of four letters or more. Periodical titles should be in italic.
