Desktop GIS ► Displays & analyzes geo-spatial data from local/network drives and/or web services ► Current Desktop Activities  Create/maintain AWIPS map backgrounds  Determine current and proposed WSR88D, ARSR and TDWR coverages  Graphics for presentations including Congressional briefings  Forecast verification studies  Manipulating variables (scaling & projecting) for use in statistical guidance development

4. Server GIS ► Provides users with data which can be:  Displayed & or queried in a web portal  Downloaded and ingested into client’s GIS  Used for custom Decision Support applications ► “ Web Services” are the predominate request for weather data by customers & partners visiting NOAA booths at technical conferences ► Current/Planned Server Activities  WMS Service as backend will be used to deliver RIDGE data in version II  NDFD prototype
