2 e-progress file Background Loughborough College was the lead institution for the one of the MLEs for Lifelong Learning Programme JISC funded project looking at “Developing Learning & Teaching Aspects of Progress File and The Personal Development Profile Across FE & HE”

3 e-progress file Background Our immediate partners in the project were the Loughborough University, RNIB College as we all are sited next to each other in Loughborough Outcomes of the project: Interoperability – transfer of data from FE to HE Accessibility is an important aspect in order for all our students to gain access to the information but particularly so for our visually impaired students

4 What is e-progress file? e-progress file is the next stage in the development of the previous paper based progress file. Recently announced by DfES that paper based materials will be withdrawn in England. This will necessitate the use of e- progress files. It allows learners to reflect on their performance, develop an understanding of their skills, evaluate their abilities and plan for their future.

5 Technical format Web based application SQL database UK Leap compatible IMS ACCLIP standards Ability to Export and Import data. TILE – ACCLIP transfer tested Data transfer tested with Loughborough University

6 What does it look like? http://progressfile.loucoll.ac.uk/ KS 3 and 4 being piloted in 10 schools http://progresspilot.loucoll.ac.uk/test/ Adult version in development. Due to launch pilot May/June 2006 http://progressfile.loucoll.ac.uk/adultlearners/

7 Current developments Integration of college systems Linking the student tracking database to the progress review sheet in e-progress file progressfile.loucoll.ac.uk Links with value added software and e-registers to monitor students attendance and punctuality more easily All these should be in place for September 2006

8 Future developments Continued implementation across Loughborough College September 2006 for 16-19 Full-time FE students and substantial part-time students Adult version implemented across Loughborough College September 2006

9 Future developments Proposed external projects for e-progress file: KS 3 and 4 versions implemented in schools across Leicester/shire in a joint project with e-common post-16 application form (e-caf) our student tracking database and b-live Enable interoperability between schools/colleges and universities
