Introduction Pace University has a course evaluation at end of every semester. Assessment Dept. sends out paper based forms to all courses.  Students fill the form, the forms are collected and sent back to the Dept.  The distribution and collection takes about 1-11/2 week.  These forms are passed through a scanner, and then results generated.  The result generation takes about a month.  A substitute to this method is Online Course Opinion Survey System

Tools used  ASP (Active Server Pages)  Java script  VB script  HTML  MS Access Database  SQL(Structured Query Language)

Important Issues  Easy to use (basic principle in any web application)  Less information asked from User: The user should not be prompted to enter a lot of information, like CRN for a course, or a text based form.  User Identity not considered : No student id or name is required.  Avoids multiple surveys taken by User: A pin number provided via email to each student for each course.  Less Time spent while taking the survey: Less pages to maneuver and fast access to results

Advantages  Provides up to date results  Survey can be taken from anywhere  Results are guide for future students to select their courses  Help Pace’s Distance Learning Program

Conclusions  Less manual work  Reduce paper work  Reduce data compilation  Change data storing techniques  Easy result generation  No user identity revealed  No multiple surveys
