Muons µ By John and Nicole ~Waterloo
2
Definition of a Muon Muon- an elementary particle with a mass about 200 times that of an electron. It is a lepton (quark) with a negative charge and has a half-life of two-millionths of a second.
3
Characteristics Mass~ 0.106GeV/c² Charge~ negative Life-time~ 0.000002 sec.
4
Discovery In 1961, Leon Max Lederman, Melvin Schwartz, and Jack Steinberger made the discovery of muons as a result of an experiment with a high-energy neutrino beam.
