10 DIT Access and Outreach DIT Access Service –374 disadvantaged students from across Ireland in DIT on a positive discrimination programme Dublin Inner city Schools Computerisation (DISC) –IT facilities & teacher training in all inner city primary & secondary schools Ballymun Music Programme –700 children per year on programme The Digital Community –computers centres and training located in 20 inner city flat complexes Mature student access programme Students learning with communities

15 There is a need to design spaces which intentionally support student-centred learning strategies –Understand the potential directions for future pedagogy –Need to consider the full range of spaces for learning –Students studying in formal and informal spaces –Designing all spaces are conducive to promoting learning for all students –Learning spaces should be rooted in an understanding of the ways in which students engage with the campus –Research indicates that there is a significant variation by class year in the manner in which students use space
