2 Terms to Know: DRM:  Digital Rights Management (or Digital Restrictions Management – according to the FSF) A term used to define technology (especially software) used to control access and usage of digital data and hardware. FSF:  Free Software Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Richard Stallman to support the free software movement EFF:  Electronic Frontier Foundation, another non-profit advocacy group dedicated to free speech and First Amendment rights. UOP:  User Operation Prohibition, a form of DRM used on DVDs (Think FBI warning). Definitions paraphrased from Wikipedia.org

4 FairPlay Apple's DRM solution for iTunes Pros:  Reasonable limitations: unlimited play – restricted computers unlimited burning – restricted playlists  Higher quality of music due to advanced compression method

5 FairPlay Apple's DRM solution for iTunes Cons:  Very closed format: Nobody but Apple can really work with it  No real choice: All iTunes downloads must be in aac format Plus, I hate these commercials.
