The purpose of this symposium is to bring together the economic and financialviewpoints from both the government agencies andthe commercial nuclear industry. Recent changes inthe economic landscape of the energy industry haverejuvenated interest in nuclear power. In light of theEnergy Policy Act of 2005, tax credits, loanguarantees, and risk insurance have createdadditional excitement and anticipation for theconstruction of new reactors. The economicfeasibility of the Next Generation Nuclear PlantProject and the Advanced Fuel Cycle Initiative haveestablished prospective foundations for the future ofnuclear power. Speakers and panelists willdeliberate on the economic benefits and challengesfacing the nuclear industry.The symposium is being held prior to the 2006 ANSStudent Conference hosted by RensselaerPolytechnic Institute.
