4. A RUMINANT ANIMALالحيوان المجتر Has four distinctive compartments in its stomach, which swallows its food essentially unchewed, regurgitates, and chews it thoroughly and reswallows it again. Examples include cattle, sheep, goats, deer, rhinos, and elk. يمتلك معدة مركبة من اربع غرف متباينة حيث يبتلع الغذاء غير ممضوغ ثم يسترجعه ليمضغه ويعاد بلعه مرة اخرى. مثال: الماشية, الاغنام, الماعز, الغزلان، الرنه، الالك

Reticulum 5% capacity الشبكية سعتها 5% Nicknamed the “hardware stomach” Function:الوظيفة -storage space for foreign materialsمخزن للاجسام الغريبة مثل المسامير والأسلاك والتي قد تسبب تحطيم الاعضاء الاخرى وعادة يوضع مغناطيس داخل الكرش ليمسك تلك الاجسام الغريبة -such as nails, and wire which can cause damage to other body organs -often a magnet is fed to the animal to catch and hold these foreign materials

Abomasum 8% capacity الانفحة وسعتها 8% (the “true” stomach)( المعدة الحقيقية ) Function: الوظيفة تفرز العصارات الهاضمة والتي تؤدي الى تغيرات كيماوية تكسر المواد البروتينية الكربوهيدراتية والدهنية الى مواد ابسط قبل ان تنتقل الى الامعاء الدقيقة حيث المزيد من الهضم قبل ان تمتص في تيار الدم -Digestive juices cause chemical changes to break down proteins, carbohydrates, and fats into simpler substances which can pass into the small intestine for further digestion and absorption into the blood stream.

12. اثناء عملية الاكل –المجترات (لبقرة- الاغنام) تمضغ الغذاء جزئيا لتستطيع بلعه وحتى تفرغ من استهلاكه كله وبعد ذلك تسترجعه من الكرش ليعاد مضغه جيدا قبل بلعه مرة اخرى During the process of eating, ruminants (cow, sheep, etc.) chew there feed just enough to make swallowing possible. After the ruminants have consumed there feed, the feed is brought back up from the rumen and chewing is completed.

13. Nonruminant Digestion هضم غير المجترات -food is swallowed directly into the single stomach compartment -there it is mixed with digestive juices هنا الغذاء يتم بلعه مباشرة الى المعدة الوحيدة حيث يخلط بالعصارة الهضمية

14. -Because there is very little bacterial action there is no conversion of low-quality protein to high quality protein.نظرا لوجود فعل بكتيري قليل جدا لا يوجد تحول للبروتين الاقل الى الاعلى جودة والنتيجة انها لا تستطيع هضم كميات كبيرة من الالياف -Result: Nonruminant animals are not able to digest large amounts of fiber

UNLESS...الا -The animal has an enlarge cecum (such as rabbits, horses and guinea pigs) اذا امتلك الحيوان اعور كبير الحجم (مثل الارنب-الحصان- خنزير)- فعل البكتريا يحدث بصفة خاصة في الاعور في كل من الأرنب والحصان -Bacterial breakdown happens in the large intestine and particularly in the cecum of the horse and rabbit.
