4 4 ●The LA has a statutory role in respect of monitoring, challenge, and intervention where needed ●Strong focus on LA statutory responsibilities in respect of school effectiveness ●Changes to arrangements in relation to school improvement advisers ●CPD offer only includes NQT, governor training and Compliance areas ●LA/BSP strategic collaborative arrangements established Brent Local Authority offer

5 5 ●BSP offer includes: The availability of a central CPD programme at preferential rates Two full day conferences and a two day residential conference covering key national developments and policy changes Bespoke support – a termly visit and a two day annual review ●Schools will be able to purchase further support, e.g.: - HT and Senior Leadership recruitment - HT Performance Management – external adviser support - Bespoke support and training for school leaders and governors BSP – next steps

6 6 The principle is that schools determine the support and challenge based on their needs and priorities BSP – next steps cont’d 1

7 7 Progress made:- ● CPD planning process has commenced (proposals to be discussed) ●Specialist Centres at the heart of school improvement support ●Recruitment of School Improvement Advisers has commenced. Criteria for selection: - strong track record of working in and with schools - evidence of the impact of support and challenge - professional credibility, positive demeanour - range of expertise across the team ●10-12 BSP SIAs to be appointed (secondments from HTs welcomed) BSP – next steps cont’d 2

8 8 ●Schools to be involved in selection process ●Profiles to be available – schools can indicate 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd preference. Intention to have one of the preferred advisers to be attached to schools BSP – next steps cont’d 3

9 9 ●Are there any areas for clarification in relation to the BSP offer? ●Do the proposed CPD areas meet schools needs and priorities? Are there any others? ●How can clusters work together to strengthen collaboration and deliver more localised school improvement support? ●Anything else? Discussion Groups
