6 February is also one of the coldest times of the year to visit Sicily. Temperatures will reach a maximum of around 13°C during the day, dropping to 8°C on an evening, so be prepared and pack plenty of warm clothing. It’s very likely you’ll experience rain at least once during your stay, so pack a waterproof jacket too.

8 Provisional travel details OUTWARD JOURNEY 1.Leave Beverley High School- Wednesday 4 th February 2015 at 02.00am  05.45hrs - Check in opens at Manchester Airport, Terminal 1  07.45hrs - Flight Easyjet EZY1981 departs for Catania Airport  12.05hrs - Flight Easyjet EZY1981 arrives at Catania Airport INWARD JOURNEY 1.Leave Sicily – Sunday 8 th February 2.10.25hrs - Check in opens at Catania Airport 3.12.25hrs - Flight Easyjet EZY2384 departs for Luton Airport 4.14.45hrs - Flight Easyjet EZY2384 arrives at Luton Airport 5.Arrive in Beverley- 17.45 pm Sunday 8 th February approx.

9 Luggage  We are flying EasyJet  One suitcase or holdall only. Maximum weight 20 kg  One piece of hand luggage. ONE piece of cabin baggage no bigger than 50 x 40 x 20cm including handles and wheels.  Passports and money to be kept in hand luggage.  No liquids, or sharp items in this hand luggage.

10 Passports/EHIC  Final reminder the boys/girls need their own passport.  Final reminder the boys/girls need their EHIC.  Passports must be in hand luggage.  They will be retained and kept in the hotel safe and distributed on the return journey back to Britain.

11 Food for the journey  You will need to bring food for the journey  Supplies essential: Including sweets, crisps, plenty of chocolate and drinks.  Packed breakfast required

12 The coach to the airport  The coach will be fitted with seatbelts.  Staff will ensure that they are worn at all times.  Please stress to your son/daughter the importance of this safety issue.

13 Spending money  Recommend no more than 100 Euros.  All trip money is the responsibility of the student on the trip.  Purses & wallets should contain pupils name and hotel name in case lost.

16 Visit Mt Etna

17 Thursday 5th February 2015  08.30hrs - Breakfast at the hotel and collect packed lunches  09.30hrs - Coach departs for Mount Etna Sud  11.00hrs - Coach arrives at Mount Etna Sud (cable car + 4 x 4 truck ride - included in tour cost) subject to weather conditions on the day  Once at the summit alpine guides will guide you around the crater rim and explain some of the volcanic features of Mount Etna  14.30hrs - Group returns to coach and departs for Piano dell’Acqua lava fields  15.00hrs - Approx. group arrives at the Piano dell’Acqua lava field to explore the lava field created by the 1992 eruption  15.30hrs - Coach departs for the Bowling Centre in Catania  16.30hrs - Coach arrives for bowling session  18.30hrs - Meet coach and depart for the Hotel Solemar  19.30hrs - Approx. coach arrives at the Hotel Solemar  19.45hrs - Evening meal in the hotel

29 The Hotel Solemar  Hotel Solemar is a unique, comfortable resort situated in the splendid Bay of Sant'Alessio Siculo only 8 km from Taormina, and facing its private beach.  The resort offers 28 rooms, all pleasantly furnished and each with their own bathroom and modern commodities. A large public terrace overlooking the sea provides relaxing moments.  The Hotel Solemar's restaurant offers typical cuisine. The staff can arrange private excursions to various nearby Sicilian landmarks.

30 In the hotel  Good behaviour at all times. There could be other guests on holiday in the hotel  All breakages and damage needs to be reported at once to a member of staff.  Always leave your hotel key at reception.

31 The Food- Continental Style Breakfast  Everyone has breakfast.  Bread  Jam  Croissants  Tea/Coffee/Juice

32 Lunch  Pupils will be provided with a packed lunch.  Sandwich  Drink  Chocolate

33 Evening meal  Provided in local restaurant.  Vegetarian option and special diets will be catered for but you must let us know any final requirements this evening.

35 What to bring?  Warm/Waterproof jacket essential.  Evening clothes but not large amounts!  Underwear, more than one pair please.  Layers of clothing, t-shirts, jumpers etc  Gloves and a hat.  Nightclothes.  Two towels one small/large.  Small rucksack essential  Sensible shoes to walk around Sicily in walking boots preferred or something with a similar grip.  Pens/pencils  Clipboard.  Polythene bags for dirty washing

36 Extras  A travel plug  Get together with friends people you might share with to avoid bringing unnecessary items e.g. hairdryers the hotel rooms all have them.  Do not bring anything valuable, jewellery, MP3players/Ipods etc if you do so it is at your own risk.

37 Behaviour  Beverley High and Grammar School has an excellent reputation abroad.  Must be excellent all week and at all times.  No one is allowed to drink under the age of 18 by law.  No one is allowed to smoke.  Parents and Pupils will be asked to read carefully and sign a contract to which they must adhere to.

38 Remember  Staff work extremely hard on the trip to ensure you all have an excellent time and experience.  Say thank you to them from time to time as they have left their families to enable you to go with them for this incredible experience.

39 Some final reminders  Fill in yellow ID card  Rooming pupils need to pair up into 2s for the girls and 2/3s for the boys.  Decide tonight and let Mrs Thatcher & Mr Elvidge know.  Insurance details please collect this evening from Rayburn Tours.  Please ask any questions you feel need answering this evening.
