Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage ;

5 G ROWING IN C HRIST - LIKENESS : H UMILITY rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature (form) of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name…

7 I. H UMILITY C OMMANDED VV.2-3 What is humility? “Other-ness” “Others” “One another” Not “Me-ness” What is a Humble Person? “Other-centered”; not “Self-centered”

H UMILITY C OMMANDED VV.2-3 Philippians 2: 3a NASB “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard (esteem) one another as more important than himself” Romans 12:10 NASB “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor.”

9 I. H UMILITY C OMMANDED VV.2-3 Focus more on others, less on self Philippians 2: 3b “…regard (esteem) one another more important than himself. Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” I Cor. 13:5 “love does not….seek its own”
