8. What types of abuse must you report? Neglect Includes: 1.Inadequate Shelter 2.Inadequate Clothing and Hygiene 3.Inadequate Food 4.Lack of Supervision 5.Failure to Provide Medical Care 6.Illegal Placement/Abandonment 7.Failure to Provide Education 8.Prenatal Exposure to Controlled Substances

9. When do you report? A child is being neglected or abused A child has been neglected or abused within the preceding 3 years

10. When do you report? Immediately make a Verbal Report (within 24 hours) Within 72 hours submit a Written Report (excluding weekends and holidays)

11. To whom do you report? Law Enforcement -Immediate danger -Alleged perpetrator is non-family (and not staff at a facility) Social Service Agency -Alleged perpetrator is family, family child care provider, family foster care provider, etc. Minnesota Department of Education -Alleged perpetrator is a school employee

13. Penalties for not reporting Misdemeanor, if child abused or neglected Gross Misdemeanor, if child suffers substantial or great bodily harm because of lack of medical care Felony, if child dies because of lack of medical care
