The Business Intelligence Experts What can be Done in 2009- Implementations Source: SAP, 2009 Visual Composer Widgets BI Accellerator Web Intelligence (webi)

The Business Intelligence Experts The two types of Universes There are currently 2 ways to get at the SAP BI data. If you implement this year, you need to make concious decisions about which method you select. There are pros and cons of each 29

The Business Intelligence Experts What can be Done in 2009- Take a Look at… Polestar is an interesting technology that companies may start a prototype with and see how it can help them access BI data from a variety of sources (NW and others) Xcelsius Polestar

The Business Intelligence Experts What can be Done in 2009- Prototype Consider building a Xcelsius Prototype to get used to really interactive dashboards and what-if analysis. Xcelsius Source: Adobe, 2009

The Business Intelligence Experts What can be Done in 2009- Keep doing… There are many classical SAP NetWeaver tools that should still be used by companies that are planning go-lives in 2009.  Integrated planning is still supported.  Pioneer is still 12 months away  WAD will continue to be the development environment for 2009.

The Business Intelligence Experts Stop As soon as possible If you need Formatted Reports in 2009, you should seriously consider Crystal Reports. The current roadmap calls for moving Report Designer into regular maintenaice at the end of 2009, and stop further development of this tool. Looking forward to Xcelsius and Pioneer, it may be advisable to limit futher custom development in JSP unless it is not intended to be migrated at a future date.

The Business Intelligence Experts What are Others Doing – Example 1 Many are starting to develop and prototype on the SAP BOBJ toolset. This company is planning to rollout webi and their new ad-hoc query environment to a limited set of users in 2009. The project team is small and the development will also serve as a proof- of-concept for future cokpit development in 2010.

The Business Intelligence Experts What are Others Doing – Example 2 This company wants to start tooling up their development team and have decided to start an Xelcius prototype effort for 2009. They also plan of migrating some of their current custom web dashboards into Visual Composer for a go-live this fall. Their initial team size is relativly small, with one consultant and a couple of employees.

The Business Intelligence Experts What are Others Doing – Example 3 This company is rolling out formatted reporting to their core financial team and have decided not to use Report Designer. Instead they are rolling out Crystal as their core platform for pixel controlled formatted reports. They also want to start the team transition to Xcelsius and is therefore also developing some prototypes on this technology.

The Business Intelligence Experts What are Others Doing – Example 4 This company rolled out Crystal reports on SAP BI in 2006 and is starting in 2009 with a project effort to migrate to Xcelsius for web rendering and cockpits. They have also started to develop visual composer cokpits that they plan on integrating into Xcelsius later in spring 2010.
