12 EH&S Expert: overview configuration
Facts ... 14 Exact composition based on products
Standard Composition Data for composition (given proportion of substances in weight-%). The default composition for reading the input data is Exact composition based on products. The breakdown into components is possible for several levels, but every product must contain their components in the same characteristic. The calculation of the standard composition take the upper limit of a component proportion into account (if this value is given). Thus it is ensured that the maximum possible concentration is taken into account ( worst case scenario). Exact composition based on products Standard composition B A L1 L3 C L2 L4 L5 L6 L7 L1 L2 L3 L4 L5 L6 L7

22 Safety Data Sheet Japan
Regulatory Basis Japanese Industry Standard (JIS) Z 7250 Requirements ISO standard format, plus Identification of any hazardous compo-nent with a mass share of  1% (0,1% for carcinogenic substances) Accuracy of stated mass share depending on relevant legislation Data Source Standard rule set package for Japan New rule set comparable with HazardComp_EU Amendment to this new rule set Design and output of MSDS with WWI

23 Labelling Requirements Japan
Regulatory Basis various laws including: Industrial Safety and Health Law (ISHL) Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law (PDSCL) Fire Service Law (FSL) Requirements Product name and quantity Ingredients and respective content Physical and chemical properties Signal words Hazardous rank according to FSL Effect on the human body Name of the antidote for the substance Storage and handling precautions Emergency measures Responsible party Data Source SAP R/3 SD module Rule set similar to HazardComp_EU Specification data New classification rule set New FSL rule set Classification MSDSMaker rule set Design and output of labels is managed by WWI

24 Safety Data Sheet Korea
Regulatory Basis Regulations for ‘Standard for the Preparation / Provision of Material Safety Data Sheets’ (Standards for MSDS) Requirements ISO standard template, plus Identification of any hazardous component with a mass share of  1% (0,1% for carcinogenic substances) Designated usage of product Local contact address Data Source Standard rule set package for Korea Rule set similar to HazardComp_EU Specification data SAP R/3 SD module Design and output of SDS with WWI

25 Labelling Requirements Korea
Regulatory Basis Toxic Chemicals Control Act (TCCA) Industry Safety and Health Act (ISHA) Fire Fighting Act (FFA) and High-pressured Gas Safety Control Act (GSCA) Requirements Product name and quantity Hazardous ingredients and content Hazard symbols Hazards associated with chemicals Precautionary handling, storage and emergency procedures Responsible party Data Source SAP R/3 SD module Rule set similar to HazardComp_EU New classification rule set Classification MSDSMaker rule set Design and output of labels is managed by WWI

27 Labelling Requirements Taiwan
Regulatory Basis Enforcement Rules of the Labour Safety and Health Act (LSHA) Rules on Hazard Communication of Dangerous Materials and Toxic Materials Requirements Product name Primary ingredients Hazard symbols Hazards warning statements and hazard prevention measures Antidote, where appropriate Transportation methods Manufacturer or supplier Data Source SAP R/3 SD module Rule set similar to HazardComp_EU Classification rule set New classification rule set like DAPEC and MSDSMaker rule set Specification property DG classification Design and output of labels is managed by WWI

28 Inventories Australia China New Zealand Japan Korea Philippines
Rule set Notification status check on real substance level Data for list/pure substances from data supplier or manual maintenace Based on results Regcheck in SD/MM possible

29 Safety Data Sheet - Procedure
Maintain obligatory physical/chemical properties and further product information as well as legislative data of the components Determine secondary data with the rule sets Comp (mandatory for further rule sets) HazardComp_EU DAPEC (Directive 2001/60/EC) SUSDP (Issue 06/02) DangGoods (IATA Cargo, IMDG, ADR 2001) MSDSMaker (should run as final rule set) rule sets can either be run as one (single EH&S user exit) or be called separately as required Design and output of MSDS with the WWI layout tool

30 Safety Data Sheet - Data Maintenance with MSDSMaker
Rule set assigns additional phrases to the specification depending on given physical/chemical and legislative data Its use is not limited to the assignment of SDS-related phrases only The user can create and manipulate criteria for writing phrases Example DAPEC calculation resulted in classification “R34 Causes burns”, symbol C MSDSMaker assigns to Chapter 4: “Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.“ Chapter 7: “Avoid contact with skin and eyes.“ and “Do not breathe vapours or spray mist.“ Chapter 8: “Wear suitable gloves and eye/face protection.”

31 Safety Data Sheet - Structure of MSDSMaker
Common rule set implementation Amended front-end for user access to criteria Download and update of existing phrases from EH&S system

32 Safety Data Sheet - Criteria Available in MSDSMaker
Information on substance Preparation, Component (CAS No.) Physical and chemical data State of matter, form Chemical characterisation, use pattern Miscibility with water, pH value, conductance Viscosity, vapour pressure Boiling point, flash point Legal hazard identification Hazardous substance, dangerous good (in general) Specific dangers (corrosive, toxic, physical/chemical, environmental) Hazard symbols, R phrases, S phrases, specific labelling DG transport class
