6 Trustees give priority considerations to:  Innovative new initiatives  Projects which foster partnerships  Pilot projects that demonstrate new approaches  Projects which are sustainable beyond the pilot  Applications from organisations in rural and regional Victoria, having regard to the pioneer pastoral wealth generated by Helen’s forebears

7 Trustees will not support:  Projects outside of Victoria  Deficit funding  Recurrent administrative costs  Funding considered government responsibility  Applications made within 12 months of a previous grant being approved or before an existing staged grant is completed  Direct grants to individuals, including travel expenses, personal study or attendances at conferences

8 Research funding:   Collaborative research with community-based organisations   Pilot research – ie pre NHMRC/ARC   Innovative research   Essential equipment

12 L. E. W. Carty Charitable Fund: "to assist or promote research into the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of physical or mental disorders of human beings". Preference is given to specific laboratory research projects, or for essential equipment to undertake such projects.
