21 New Journals Journal of Forensic Sciences in 2005/06 74 requests Requested by 9 different individuals 4 requestors were faculty members from 3 different departments Cost $337 per year Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement in 2006/2007 16 requests in 18 months by 4 different users Subscription cost is $95

23 At the Same Time Purchased PsychArticles by canceling 16 psychology journals with the additional cost being $274 (gain of 47 journals) Purchased Elseiver’s 3 College Collections by cancelling 32 journals for no additional cost (gain of 1345 journals) These two collections increased journal count by 1392

24 Added Bonus 1,033 titles/1555 volumes of books, DVD’s, etc. added to collection Those 1555 items circulated 7,033 times for an average circulation of 4.5 Whole collection has average circulation of.37 for 2005-2009 or.85 since 2000 872 of the circulations were to other libraries through interlibrary loan.

28 Total Cancelled 2005 to 2009 Since 2005 cancelled 412 print titles for savings of $103,255 YIELDS 36,495 more journal titles in house and obtained many many more articles through information brokerage

30 Comments from Faculty I will be discussing with the leadership team in the [departmental meeting] on 4/14/08 but my initial reaction is that the new method seems to work very well, and for online programs works better than the traditional paper version of the journals. If they bring up any points that I have not thought of I will be back in touch.
