They enter the bloodstream and are transported to all the organs of your body (brain, liver, lungs). Drugs can be helpful or harmful. Effects depend on the kind of drug taken, how much taken, how often it is taken. Body size, shape, and chemistry make a difference

4 Effects of drugs on the body Amphetamines pump up the heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure and can cause sweating, shaking, headaches, sleeplessness, and blurred vision. A fast high causing hallucinations and intense paranoia. Coke & Crack puts the user at risk for hepatitis, HIV & AIDS because users share needles. Snorting can cause you to get a hole inside your nose from the chemicals “eating” away at the skin.

5 Effects of drugs on the body Depressants can cause confusion, slurred speech, lack of coordination, and tremors if dose is too big. Shouldn’t be mixed with alcohol- increases risk of overdose and death. Hallucinogens make emotions more intense. Skin feels tingly and heart rate increases. Dry mouth, cramps, blurred vision, chills, sweating, and nausea are common.
