6 Sculptures “Soul Searching” This sculpture was created based on Plate 23 from Tom Bianchi’s book Out of the Studio. I chose the title because it seemed that this physically strong man was emotionally devastated. He was searching from within for some sort of answer. “Quiet Desperation” My most emotional piece to date. Following the 9/11 attacks, my husband and I attended a memorial service for a friend’s brother who was killed in the Twin Towers. That was the closest I had ever been to such raw pain and emotion. Out of that experience “Quiet Desperation” was born. She is a tribute to all of the survivors who are forever part of the attacks. The roughness surrounding the figure represents the destruction. Although she is part of that – her hair blends in with the rough texture, and she is partially engulfed by it – she is strong enough to overcome because there are other people who need her. Her hand breaks through the back of the sculpture, and the words “faith. Love, and hope” are carved into the bronze. “Katherine” This graceful piece depicts a love of life and a beauty that transcends all time. She emerges out of the water, still carrying a sea shell from her travels. This sculpture is shown in clay and is still being modified. It stands at 26”.

7 Jennifer Holguin Jennifer studied sculpture at Providence College under Fr. McAlster, then continued her studies under renowned artist Sara Aldouby of Trumbull, CT. Jennifer brings energy and intensity to her sculptures. Each piece embodies her passion for life and her focus on details. Jennifer’s style gracefully combines Romanticism with the beauty of the Classical period. She meticulously crafts her work with inspiration from masters such as Rodin, and from her own life’s experiences. Her sculptures are known for their dramatic poses, often emerging from an image she has created within herself or from a single photograph. In addition to her three-dimensional work, Jennifer has been a mural artist for more than six years. She has painted in professional offices as well as in private homes throughout Connecticut. She creates murals that are playful, unique and imaginative. Jennifer made her debut at a Woodbury, CT, art show in November, 2005. She continues to evolve and make her presence known in the art world. Sharing her love of art are her three children and Husband, Tom. Press ESC to stop. Close Tab or Window to return to SCS.
