Being “hungry” means your family doesn’t have enough money to provide three meals a day. The Food Bank for Westchester estimates that there are 200,000 Westchester residents hungry or at risk of hunger.

Kids who are hungry or poorly nutritioned cannot focus in school, do not have much energy, are more likely to act badly toward each other, and give themselves low scores when rating future success.

The Food Bank of Westchester distributed 780,769 pounds of fresh garden produce last year, and over 4 million pounds of food overall. 700 pounds of that food were grown right here.

Part of our community service is sustaining the ecosystem that produces our food. We tend to the soil and the worms, plant guard flowers, and trick the pests right out of their socks.
