1 My Adventure In Costa Rica

2 Ricardo Castro Beer This is the school that we started attending our second day in Costa Rica. School in Costa Rica is very different.

3 The Differences School in the USA Students are required to be on campus, and in class every day. Classes are disruptive Students can be punished Bathrooms are equipped with toilet seats, soap, toilet paper and paper towels, and in most cases seat coverings. Food is normally prepackaged, and heated up School in Costa Rica Students are required to be on campus, but not required to go to class. Classes are very disruptive No disciplinary actions can be taken Bathrooms have a toilet with out a toilet seat, soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Food is homemade

4 Typical Food Breakfast : Gallo Pinto (beans and rice mix together served with an egg) Lunch : beans and rice, salad, fried plantain and meat Dinner: beans and rice salad, and meat Other dishes; Olla de carne (pot of beef)- is a stew with yucca, beef, and potato Plantains- are in the same family as a banana Ceviche- is fish that is cooked not by heat, but by the acids in lemon and lime juice. Often served with cilantro. Arroz con pollo (rice with chicken)- is a dish that is mainly served at parties.

5 Fruit Orotina is a city of fruit. Pahybahe- is a fruit that looks like a lime on the outside, looks like a sweet potato on the inside, and tastes like an artichoke. (I had a allergic reaction) Mango Verde- is a green mango, that they eat with salt. Mammon- are a red spiny fruit that when you open has a clear center with a seed. It tastes like a grape.

6 My host family my family consists of Five people Prisci 19, Faby 15, Naty 9, Lizbeth and Dago. We lived next to the elementary school in Hacienda Veija, Orotina. My host father Dago spoke very good English because he attended Kansas university, in Coffeyville Kansas.

11 This is a birthday party that was held my first night for my aunt….the power was out..and it was raining!

18 This river is brackish, which means its part salt and fresh water. The river flows right into the pacific ocean.

19 National bird, Turdus grayi or yiguirro This was found hiding on the porch.

21 Iguanas, these you can see all over Costa Rica. I had them on my roof.
