3 Understanding To make my water saving device work, you have to do several things. If you have any liquids you haven’t used, you can pour them down each funnel. One is labelled ‘Water’, and the other one is labelled ‘Anything but water’. If for example you had some Coke, it would flow through the pipe and end up in the compost bin. (The compost bin would be re-filled) If you had some water, it would lead into the Water Tank and the Water Tank would put the right amount of water into the dirt at the right time.

4 Knowing Materials needed: (for my version) 2 funnels, a rectangular bucket, a large clear container, dirt, 2 jars, a piece of paper, a cardboard box, 2m of flexible tubing, a pen, scissors, sticky tape, and some measuring tape. The idea of my Water Saving Device is that it separates water from any other liquids.

5 Steps (Knowing) 1. Get the scissors and the cardboard box. Cut one of the faces of the box. 2. Measure the shape of the funnels by using the bucket and the pen. Now get the scissors and cut the shapes of the funnels in the bucket. 3. Stick the funnels to the bottom of the bucket using sticky-tape. 4. Cut the flexible tubing into 3 even parts. 5. Attach one part of the flexible tubing to the bottom of one funnel, and the same to the other funnel. 6. Cut 2 holes in the top of the cardboard box. Get the measuring tape and use it as a ruler by measuring a straight line. 7. Wherever the straight line is, cut 1 hole at a time so they are in line with the top 2 holes.

6 Steps (Knowing) 8. Get the jars and the parts cut off from the bucket. If the jars don’t have a lid, cut the size of the top of the jar from the bucket circles. 9. Cut a hole on the side of one jar. 10. Attach the ends of the flexible tubing to the holes on the jars. 11. Cut a hole in the bottom of one of the jars. Attach the 3 rd piece of flexible tubing to the bottom of the jar with a hole in it. 12. Cut a hole in the see-through container. Join the last piece of flexible tubing you attached to the hole. 13. Put the dirt into the see-through container.
