1 Welcome

2 2 What is DUO? The abbreviation DUO stands for: Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (Education Executive Agency).

3 3 A brief history For many years, two separate organizations performed executive tasks for the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science: the IB- Groep in Groningen and CFI in Zoetermeer, a city near The Hague. In the early seventies, various divisions of the Ministry of ECS were relocated to Groningen. In 1988 they formed the ‘Informatiseringsbank’. In 1994 this became an independent organization, the IB-Groep, which remained independent until 2010. CFI (short for Centrale Financiën Instellingen) started in 1992 as an agency of the Ministry and remained so until 2010. On January 1st, 2010, both organizations merged and became DUO, the Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (Education Executive Agency), the Ministry’s executive organization.
