3 CONNECTING TO THE JISD-GUEST NETWORK: JISD-Guest wireless gives Teachers, Students and Parents Internet access while visiting JISD facilities CONNECTING TO THE JISD-GUEST NETWORK: o Locate the Wireless settings on your device o View available wireless connections, select JISD-Guest, and click connect. o Before you can use any web application, you must open a web browser where you will be redirected to the AUP agreement. o Review the AUP and when you understand it, click on the ACCEPT button. o You will then be redirected to the JISD website o At this point you may now proceed with using web service

4 Bring Your Own Device ( BYOD ) Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) means students and staff may bring personal wireless devices to school for educational purposes. Changes in Board Policy and Acceptable Usage Policy have made this possible. TYPES OF DEVICES ALLOWED: o Smartphones (i.e. iPhone, Android, Blackberry, etc.) o Tablet computers (i.e. iPad, Playbook Galaxy Pad) o Portable media devices (i.e. iPod Touch) o Laptop/Netbook WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: o Personally-owned devices are never to be plugged into the wired network.

8 Microsoft Live@Edu and Windows Live SkyDriveMicrosoft Live@Edu  Live@edu is a free email communication and collaboration service for JISD secondary students which includes web versions of Microsoft Office MICROSOFT OUTLOOK LIVE: o Get 10 GB inbox, 18 MB attachments o Use instant messaging services with Outlook Live including audio and video, and more. o Get access to your email, contacts, and calendar from WINDOWS LIVE SKYDRIVE: o Get 25 GB of free online storage OFFICE WEB APPS: o Microsoft Office Applications (examples: Word, Excel, and Notebook), and more
