I Just Wanna Be A Sheep! What’s so great about being a sheep? It’s hard to think of very many positive attributes that would make us want to be sheep.
Sheep As A Flock Psalm 100:3 -- Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Psalm 79:13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will praise you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise.
The Unflattering Sheep: Psalm 44:11-- You gave us up to be devoured like sheep and have scattered us among the nations.
Isaiah 53:6 -- We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Matthew 9:36 -- When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Song of Solomon 6:6 -- Your teeth are like a flock of sheep coming up from the washing. Each has its twin, not one of them is alone.
Sheep as individuals Psalm 119:176 -- I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands.
Matthew 18:12-- What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?

The Good Shepherd John 10 The only way we can be glad to be sheep is if the Lord is our shepherd!
John 10:1-2 -- I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. Jeremiah 23:1 -- "Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!" declares the LORD. Jeremiah 50:6 – “My people have been lost sheep; their shepherds have led them astray.
The sheep know the shepherd Vs. 3-4 They listen to His voice He calls them by name They follow Him
The shepherd is the gate! Vs. 7 -- Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.
The Shepherd as Sacrifice Vs. 11-16 Lays down His life for the sheep Superior to the hired hand Knows the Father!
The Shepherd as Eternal Savior Vs. 17-18 -- The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. 18No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father."
The Great Shepherd of the Sheep Hebrews 13:20-21-- May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
