Top Quality Conclusion

The 4 parts to a top quality conclusion 1.Restate the testable question and answer the question. 2.Be specific and use exact wording of the independent variable and the dependent variable. 3.Include the data numbers that explain the highs/lows, best/worst, maximum/ minimum results. 4.Conclude by stating the relationship between the IV and DV.

How does the length of deflated balloon affect the amount of water it can hold?

Example #1: The length of the deflated balloon does affect the amount of water a balloon can hold. The worst balloon length of 5 cm only held 15 ml of water. The best balloon length was 30 cm because it held 60 ml of water. The longer the deflated balloon the more water it will hold. Number of points ___________

Example #2: The larger the balloon the more water it will hold. 5 cm held the least and 30 cm held the most. Number of points ___________

Problem: Which Brand of Diapers (Huggies, Pampers, Luv’s or Parent’s Choice) holds the most water?

1. Problem: Which brand of diapers (Huggies, Pampers, Luv’s or Parent’s Choice) holds the most water? Conclusion: Choosing the correct type of diaper does affect the amount of water that can be held. Huggies held the most water with 15 grams of water and Parent’s Choice held the least amount with 9 grams of water. The brand of diapers that holds the most water is Huggies.

2. Problem: How is the flight time of a paper airplane affected by the mass of the paper airplane? Conclusion: The flight time of the airplane is affected by the mass of the paper. The 5 gram airplane flew for the longest time at 20 seconds. The 20 gram airplane flew for the shortest amount of time at 6 seconds. The more mass that you add to a paper airplane, the shorter the flight time.

Conclusion Answers

3. Problem: How does the amount of fertilizer affect the number of algae present? Conclusion: The amount of fertilizer does affect the number of algae grown. The 3 grams of fertilizer grew the least amount of algae which was 10 algae. The 12 grams of fertilizer grew the most amount of algae which was 40 algae. The more fertilizer you use the more algae will grow.

4. Problem: How does the size of the battery affect the number of paper clips it can pick up? Conclusion: The size of the battery does affect the number of paperclips picked up by the battery. The smallest battery, AAA, holds the least amount of paper clips, only 5 paper clips. The largest battery, DD, holds the most paper clips, 19 paper clips. So the larger the battery, the more paperclips the battery will pick up.

5. Problem: Does the size of a marble effect the time it takes to travel 3 meters Conclusion: The mass of the marble does affect the time it travels because the larger marble traveled in the fastest amount of time. The 4 gram marble took the most time which was 56 seconds. The 16 gram marble took the least amount of time which was 14 seconds. The heavier the marble, the faster it travels 3 meters.
