The Mountaintop Treasure By Nat Beaumon

Hello everyone! My name is Nat. I am a 6th grader at Mercer International Middle School.

Today I will tell you a story that I wrote myself. This story is called, “The Mountaintop Treasure.” I hope you will like it.

A long long time ago, there was a small village. This village was at the bottom of a very big mountain. Many people tried to climb the mountain, but no one was able to get to the top.

At the middle of the mountain, there was a dragon. If you were able to get to there, the dragon would look at you, and ask you questions. If it thought you were a very good person, if you climbed to the top of the mountain, it would give you an extremely special treasure.

The people who lived in the village were very easily angered, because life was hard living there. In the village was a boy. His name was Xiao Feng. Xiao Feng was often very angry, and didn’t like his village. 

One day, he wanted to leave his village and go climb the mountain. He waited until everyone was sleeping, then ran outside, and started climbing the mountain. Climbing the mountain was very hard, but he was small and light, so he could go into small places and keep his balance very well. 

On the fourth day, he heard a very weird sound. He looked up in the sky and saw a dragon. The dragon caught sight of him, and flew down in front of him. The dragon asked him, “Why are you here?” Xiao Feng said, “Because I didn’t like my village, so I left it

“Do you want to get the treasure?” the dragon said. Xian Feng answered, “That wasn’t why I came here.” “Okay, if you climb to the top of the mountain, you will find the treasure.” And then the dragon flew back into the sky.

On the eighth day, Xiao Feng finally climbed to the top of the mountain. From the mountain top, he could see that his village was very beautiful, and not that bad after all. The dragon flew to his side and asked him, “What are you thinking about?”

“I saw my village, and from this point of view, it’s not really that bad.” The dragon laughed. “That’s your treasure! If you learn to look at something from a different perspective, it might seem different, and also better.”
